Denmark will be the first country in the world 100% organic up to 2020

Denmark is walking a long walk to become the first country in the world 100% organic.

The Nordic country is working hard to replace food grown with traditional methods by organic and stimulating demand for pesticide-free products. One of the objectives is to double the production of organic crops before 2020, through subsidies for small farmers. Another government goal is that 60% of foods that are destined for hospitals, schools and community restaurants are organic. It may seem like a bold plan, but Denmark has worked for 25 years to achieve these goals. An example of this at the local level is that the country has created projects so that municipalities can create gardens in abandoned land. Denmark is already the country with the greatest development and breadth of the trade in organic products. It is already 25 years of laws protecting nature, water, and restricting the use of pesticides and other agricultural products. Currently the agricultural sector of Denmark concentrates on two fronts. One of them aims to increase the amount of land that uses organic farming. The other seeks to stimulate greater demand for products of origin proven to be organic and sustainable. With the goal being reached, they will offer schools, canteens and hospitals up to 60% of organically-sourced foods. Another change will be in the school grid, with the inclusion of nutrition courses, healthy food and natural agriculture. Why doesn't Brazil follow this example? And what about the population starting to charge more of our political rulers identical to the one practised in Denmark? It's time for everyone to do their part, isn't it? Organic food is the food produced with methods that do not use synthetic, transgenic or chemical fertilizers. The techniques used in the production process respect the environment and aim to maintain the quality of the food. In this way, the product reduces the possibility of harm to consumers ' health and impacts on nature. Fruits, vegetables, vegetables, vegetables, meat, eggs, beans and cereal are some examples. Know some benefits of organic foods:

  • Absence of pesticides: No synthetic pesticide is used during the production of organic products, making food healthier.
  • Improving Life in the field: organic farming contributes to improving the socioeconomic living conditions of rural communities. Organic crops need more manpower, generating jobs and income for those who live far away from the cities.
  • Soil conservation: Organic production aims at the conservation of soil fertility, with the practice of crop rotation and green fertilization.
  • Reduction of Environmental pollution: conventional agriculture can pollute the cultivation soil with chemicals that are harmful. In addition, chemical pesticides and fertilizers are driven by rainwater and winds to neighboring regions, which may harm both the site of use and distant locations as well.
  • Maintenance of animal welfare: in the organic production of animals, they are fed only with organic products and kept in more spacious and less stressful places, reducing the use of artificial hormones or synthetic antibiotics.
  • Promotion of biodiversity: soil conservation and the absence of pesticides aid in the preservation of birds, insects and other animals in the region.
